NEUROMUSCULAR DENTISTRY

Dr. Rajesh Raveendranathan

THE RIGHT BITE – ICCMO INDIA “LEARN NMD” COURSES

Neuromuscular Dentistry (NMD) is all about the science of creating a harmonious atmosphere among
the muscles of mastication, the temporomandibular joint and the teeth so that neither compensation
nor compromise happens in any of the above three constituents of the stomatognathic triad. It
enables the dentist to master bio-metrics and hence practice more precisely keeping the general wellbeing
of the patient in the mind.

The Right BiteTM, conceptualised by Dr. Raj’s company Indra Craniofacial Pain Relief India LLP, has tied
up with ICCMO (International College of CranioMandibular Orthopedics) to teach NMD and its
the protocol followed in India. ICCMO is the only worldwide organisation for NM dentists. The ICCMO
India section was officially ratified on 31st March 2017 at Buenos Aires, Argentina during its 19th
International Congress.

NMD is divided into Addition NMD, Reduction NMD and Sleep Dentistry to help teach and learn better.
It is based on the Neuromuscular and Biometrics concepts of Dr. Bernard Jankelson and the LVI Golden
Vertical. The courses have been designed in such a way so that a participant can start by understanding
the basics (Cluster1) and then go on to master the science (Cluster2); following it up with ICCMO’s
Fellowship and Mastership programmes. The courses are as follows with the fee (Inclusive of GST):

CLUSTER 1: Rs. 74000/-

COURSE1 : INTRODUCTION TO NMD (WEBINAR) – FREE WITH ALL COURSES
COURSE2 : ADDITION NMD – 1ST PHASE TENS BITE ORTHOTIC PROTOCOL
COURSE6 : DENTAL SLEEP MEDICINE
COURSE8 : REDUCTION NMD – DTR (DISCLUSION TIME REDUCTION) PROTOCOL

CLUSTER 2
COURSE3 : THE RIGHT BITE FOR 1ST PHASE ORTHOTIC PROTOCOL WITH TENS, EMG, ESG/JVA AND
KINESIOGRAPHY – ₹75,000/-
COURSE4 : 2ND PHASE PROSTHODONTIC PROTOCOL – ₹21,000/-
COURSE5 : 2ND PHASE ORTHODONTIC PROTOCOL – ₹1,35,000/-
COURSE7 : CRANIOFACIAL EPIGENETICS & PNEUMOPEDICS – THE DNA APPLIANCE – ₹2,50,000/-

Cluster1 includes the introductory courses of Course1, Course2, Course6 and Course8.

Cluster2 includes Course3, Course4, Course5 and Course7.

Course1 is the introduction webinar that is provided to the participant upon registration in any course.

Course2 is the Addition NMD course conducted as 2 modules (3 days) every year where you learn the

TENS bite for an orthotic. Course8 is the Reduction NMD course (1 day) where you learn the J5 ULF

TENS – DTR protocol. Course6 is the Dental Sleep Medicine course (1 day) where you learn the
optimum bite registration to fabricate a sleep appliance.

Once the participant is fluent in the basic TENS bite registration, learning to use the Mandibular
Tracking devices is the next step, which is Course3 (2 days); and the finishing Course4 (1 day) and
Course5 (1 day). All are in-house programmes in Bangalore/Cochin and are conducted according to
the time convenience of both Dr. Raj and the participant. This can be followed up with the Course7
under the guidance of Vivos Life and Dr. Dave Singh, which will enable the participant to be an
authorized DNA Appliance provider.
Ideally, the protocol to be followed should be to complete Cluster1 in any order. If you think you want
to be specialized, then continue with Cluster2. This can be taken to the next level with 3 cases for
ICCMO Fellowship (two each with Addition NMD, Reduction NMD and Sleep Dentistry). Once you clear
that, you can apply for the ICCMO Mastership, where you need to submit a research thesis. Being a
member of ICCMO India is pertinent to adopting NMD in a practice. The annual membership fee is Rs.
6500/- and entitles the member to receive a free copy of the ICCMO anthology. All meetings under
ICCMO India would be free for the members until further notice. The membership also allows the
members to pursue ICCMO’s Fellowship and Mastership.
The Right Bite – ICCMO India “Learn NMD” International Protocol
There is also an option to join the International Course Protocol, wherein all the above courses (except
Course7) will be taught in 10 days straight with an off day in between as under:
 Course2 – 3 days
 Course6 – 1 day
 Course8 – 1 day
 Rest day
 Course3 – 2 days
 Course4 – 1 day
 Course5 – 2 days
This will be held only once a year as per availability.
Looking forward to creating a NM specialist in you!

The Right Bite – ICCMO India “Learn NMD” Course1
An Introduction To Neuromuscular Dentistry: 1 Hour Webinar
Neuromuscular Dentistry (NMD) is all about the science of creating a harmonious atmosphere among
the muscles of mastication, the temporomandibular joint and the teeth so that neither compensation
nor compromise happens in any of the above three constituents of the stomatognathic triad. 90% of
all TMD is myogenous and hence should be treated holistically rather than going under the scalpel.
NMD is the holistic approach. By creating the Myocentric position for the mandible, the teeth are then
brought into that occlusion, hence reprogramming the muscles of mastication. This is done using
state-of-the-art and sophisticated, yet, easy to use, equipment.
NMD will also help us grasp the science of the silent killer, Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA) and how a
dental surgeon can help a patient control it.
The protocol followed in India will be stressed upon. The concept of Addition NMD and Reduction
NMD will be explained during Course2 and Course8.
Dr Rajesh will explain the basic concepts of NMD and how TMD and OSA can be successfully managed
by practising it. This 1-hour webinar will provide you with the basic knowledge of this innovative
science and is free when you register for any of our courses.
